Choosing the Music !!

When choosing the music for our video we browsed through the website www.unsigned.com, we found the song 'Come On Over' by Maxine Vauzelle.

To use her song for our video we had to send an email that would give us permission to use it.

Then we recieved and eamil back from Maxine.

When we received the email that we had permission to use the song we were more than happy. Also the artist saying that she would like to see the finishing video has made the task more challenging as i feel like the video now has to be of a good quality as its her song. However me and Rosela have some good ideas and we think that we will be able to overcome this.

Also when we emailed her we requested for some lyrics of her song, we recieved these with the email we got back from her.

Copyright Law

When choosing our song we had to thing very carefully about the copyright of the song. This is why we researched many songs on the unsigned website. However even though they were unsigned we still had to get permission from the artist to be able to use their song.

Copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. Copyright does not protect ideas, only their expression or fixation. In most jurisdictions copyright arises upon fixation and does not need to be registered. Copyright owners have the exclusive statutory right to exercise control over copying and other exploitation of the works for a specific period of time, after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Uses which are covered under limitations and exceptions to copyright, such as fair use, do not require permission from the copyright owner. All other uses require permission and copyright owners can license or permanently transfer or assign their exclusive rights to others.
